The gofundme link is in my bio to donate and learn more about the show! This print comes from a series about self work, exploring our blindspots and consciousness that live in the margins. Within this body of work I have been inspired by looking at illuminated manuscripts, Hieronymus Bosch and TJ Clark’s book Heaven On Earth to make a connection between the heavens (other realms) and the collective unconscious. One figure is the facade we put out publicly, while the figure behind is a dissociative puppet master. I find that the figures become vessels for hidden emotions that lie under the surface. These figures represent the apathy and nihilism that feel overwhelmingly present in these times. We need to feel this apathy’s destructive power and shift it.

Studio shots, WIPs etc. I’m working on letting go and following impulses. Painting forces me to disconnect from a framework, it’s almost 80% body. The intellectualizer and dissociative have to move into the background. Like I have to find it as I go it’s not something I can figure out. The only way to “figure” it out is to paint it. Like there isn’t a clear way to know what the work is until it’s over. The intellectualizer has to realize that the body is the keeper of the painting. Thanks for reading- I want to start talking more about painting and how I think and work. I do a lot of writing but always to shy to share. 🤪
